Swirl Sessions is a new, complimentary Friday afternoon ritual for guests at The Louise, bringing Barossa winemakers and cellar door ambassadors into the lodge for personally hosted tastings that celebrate both the region’s rich winemaking heritage as well as its innovative new voices.

Each Friday as the sun softens over the vines, guests at The Louise are invited to settle into the lounge for Swirl Sessions, an in-house winetasting experience designed to offer a deeper dive into the region’s wineries and a chance to meet the Barossa’s famous  winemakers in person.

Swirl Sessions showcases the Barossa’s generational custodians, from estates that helped define the region’s reputation for richly flavoured Shiraz and classic red blends. Names like Torbreck, Elderton and Peter Lehmann capture the enduring spirit of old-vine Barossa, where deep-rooted vineyards and time‑honoured craft have shaped wines of power and poise over decades.

Alongside these globally recognised wine icons, Swirl Sessions shines a light on the contemporary edge of the valley, where innovative makers reimagine varieties and styles for a new generation of wine lovers. Producers including Hentley Farm, Rieslingfreak, Tscharke, Izway, Levrier, Two Hands, Alkina and Mirus’ (at nearby Wonderground Gallery) modern expressions bring fresh energy to the glass, from single‑estate Shiraz to site‑driven Riesling and small-batch bottlings.

Swirl Sessions is designed as an informal and engaging pre-dinner drinks affair, encouraging guests to linger by the fire during the cool season or out on the terrace during the summer months to take in the sunset. With a rotating line‑up of partner wineries, no two Fridays are the same, ensuring returning guests discover a new side of the Barossa with each stay. It is an invitation to slow down, swirl and savour the region in the company of the winemakers who know it best, all without leaving the luxurious comfort of The Louise.
