The Louise luxury vineyard retreat is Barossa Valley's international five-star accommodation, intimately paired with Appellation restaurant, one of Australia's finest regional dining destinations. The Louise is twice winner of the South Australia award for luxury accommodation and was selected by the National Tourism Association as the top Luxury Accommodation in Australia in 2007. The Louise, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the WorldTM is a 15-suite, very private hideaway for global food and wine travellers. The Louise offers complete freedom from the cares of the world, while being centrally located in a thriving and exciting wine region. Guest accommodation bookings are offered, subject to availability, by telephone, email, website, travel agent GDS and toll-free telephone centres around the world.

Rates include in-suite continental breakfast per room per night for two adults sharing and are valid from 24 July 2010 - 30 June 2011.

Seppeltsfield Suite

The “Seppeltsfield Suite” is the property's premium suite with over 200 square metres of private interior-exterior guest space. Arranged as two bedrooms, each with it's own marble ensuite bathroom, a large common area, private entry garden courtyard and a glorious sunset-facing limestone walled rear terrace with lounges, this spacious suite is ideal for two couples travelling together or for guests requiring additional facilities to combine luxury personal travel with separate space for business.

By prior arrangement, the beds in this suite can be split into four single beds, ideal for an indulgent girls’ retreat or for a group of up to four friends travelling together to visit the surrounding wine region’s cellar doors.

Amenities of the Seppeltsfield Suite include a private gated courtyard with outdoor dining table for four, lounge room with fireplace, sofa, chairs and footstool, and dining table and chairs, three LCD TVs, two DVD players, dual spa tub, king beds with luxury linens, two writing desks, wired and wireless high speed internet access, and espresso maker and full mini-bar. Each ensuite bathroom features two basins, a separate toilet area, a walk-in indoor shower with rain-head and hand-held shower wand, and a private outdoor shower.

Greenock Suite

Glorious, amply sized sunset-facing fireplace spa suites with luxurious amenities and artwork. These large suites include more than 150 square metres of private interior-exterior guest space including a gated courtyard and sunset-facing limestone walled rear terrace with stunning vistas over the adjacent vineyards and olive grove. Inside is a king-bedded master bedroom with adjacent spacious marble ensuite with two-person candlelit spa tubs and LCD TV screen, dual vanity basins, separate toilet and double head indoor rain shower and private outdoor shower.

A separate luggage store and wardrobe opens from the entry and ensuite. A separate lounge room with gas fireplace, large LCD television and DVD player, sofa, armchair, footstool and dining table opens via French doors to the terrace. As with all suites, a writing desk with high speed Internet connection, a fully stocked minibar and espresso coffee maker are included.

Authentic Experience and Package Tariffs

Winemaker Private Introductions

Our signature experience for seasoned food and wine travellers is a day of private introductions to the boutique winemakers of the Barossa and Eden Valleys. A typical itinerary includes pickup after breakfast by a knowledgeable local guide in a private car, stopping at two or three boutique winemakers whose output is typically measured in a few hundred cases of production per year. The mid-day experience will be in the private home of an artisan winemaker, where lunch is paired with a vertical tasting of multiple vintages of awardwinning wines. Purchase opportunities for many of these hard-to-source wines are available, but purchase is neither required nor expected. The afternoon concludes with a visit to one or two additional specialist producers, whose properties are usually never open to the public, but who genuinely welcome a guest couple or small group from The Louise into their passion-filled winery.

Most Brilliant Blend

In concert with world famous Penfolds winery, just 10 minutes from The Louise, guests are ushered into the private laboratory of the firm's winemakers for a two-hour education on the merits and approaches of blending several grape varietals to achieve a desired style of wine. Guests then experiment with several trial blends of pre-market barrel sample shiraz, grenache and mourvedre and before choosing a final blend that is bottled with their name and date. As this is not sealed from oxygen, it is intended to be enjoyed within a few days… and the best way to enjoy is to allow the chefs at Appellation to develop a custom course for dinner paired to the guest’s blend. This price includes booking at Penfolds for the blending experience, development of the custom dining course, and service of the wine and food at Appellation as an extra selection of the à la carte menu or a supplementary 8th wine and 11th course to the Wine Paired Tasting Menu.

Winery Tours

Guided tours of nearby Barossa winery tasting rooms. As there are more than sixty Barossa wineries open daily (generally except Christmas, New Year and Easter), you and your guide will select a tour matching your preferences. Pickup at 10am allows time for 3 to 5 winery visits before a casual lunch and return. Full day tours continue to additional wineries in the afternoon before returning about 4pm.

Cheese and Wine Matching Tutorial at The Louise

Meet in the Wine Bar at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon for a one hour tutorial about matching wines to cheese. Includes three cheeses and six wines. Hosted by one of Appellation's sommeliers. Bookings limited to maximum 12 guests.

Chef’s Tour of the Local Farmer’s Market

Guests wishing an informal engagement with locals may rendezvous with one of the chefs from Appellation on Saturday mornings at the nearby Barossa Farmer’s Market. A walk-thru of the producers’ stalls for education and collaboration about selected provisions for Appellation is a highlight of this “slow-food” style experience.

No charge but reservations required. Transport not included.

Breakfast with the Kangaroos

A unique experience, especially for international guests. Our local guide arrives at dawn in a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the 20-minute ride to the nearby conservation park. An easy 15-minute bushwalk into the park leads to a clearing where the guide will arrange a gourmet breakfast on a picnic blanket. Your party will be joined by families of kangaroo who are likewise enjoying their own breakfast in this truly natural setting. This is not a petting tour and is not for children, but is a memorable way to engage with Australia’s most unique living icons. Breakfast with the Kangaroos affords a great photo opportunity and operates daily October through May with prior booking.

In-Suite Massage

Our on-call skilled masseuse will come to your suite for a relaxing one-hour massage. Weather permitting, this can be in the privacy of your outdoor courtyard. Massages for two are conducted sequentially unless otherwise arranged.

Adelaide Airport/City/Railway Transfer by Car

If you prefer not to self-drive to or from the Barossa, we are pleased to arrange a driver with car to meet your incoming international or domestic flight and transport you to The Louise. Alternatively we can meet you at the arrival of the Ghan train from the outback or the cross-country Indian-Pacific train from Perth or Sydney. We are also pleased to offer pick-up from any of the Adelaide city hotels. Likewise, transfers back to the airport, train station or city hotels may be arranged.

Arrival by Helicopter

We will arrange with a local flight operator to transport you (up to four adults plus pilot) from Adelaide airport direct to the helipad on the grounds of The Louise. A meet and greet service will assist the transfer of you and your luggage from the arrivals hall of the main airport to the awaiting helicopter, just a few minutes away at the adjacent general aviation facility. A direct transfer is about 30 minutes flying time, while a scenic transfer across the Adelaide Hills and an overflight of the Barossa region is approximately 45 minutes flying time. On arrival, you will be escorted directly to your suite at The Louise. Return transfers to the airport may be booked, or alternatively, to or from Kangaroo Island or other locations in South Australia. Landings are daylight only.

Chilled Champagne and Welcome Flowers

For that special moment of celebration of indulgence, The Louise will prepare a bottle of chilled French Champagne, salted almonds and chocolate truffles in your room on arrival (or alternatively on any specified day of your stay).
